Conference main theme: «The Triple Helix and innovation-based economic growth: new frontiers and solutions»
The Triple Helix XII International Conference seeks to answer the questions to the challenges of the global agenda – the search for new sources of economic growth. Organizing conferences in different parts of the world, forming a large-scale research network and extending the concept of the Triple Helix in key economies with a significant share of global GDP, the Association of Triple Helix is the player who can give its own versions opting to cope with this challenge.
While making choice among different interpretations of the causes and roots for economic growth in innovation economy, we need the most complete model which is a guide to the implementation of innovation policy on the new stage of world economy development. Concepts of innovation life cycle (life span), Christopher Freeman’s innovation waves (National Innovation System concept), Henry Chesbrough’s open innovation, the Triple Helix theory of Henry Etzkowitz and Loet Leydesdorff – all these deliberate attempts to describe the economic growth based on innovations, gradual shift of innovations to the center of public attention and care, to the center of governmental policy, business and universities interactions.
In the modern period, when participants (actors) of the global economy are looking (searching) for the new collaborative ways to work on jobs creation, productivity and efficiency (performance) improvement, positive changes in life quality and economic growth, the Triple Helix model, which links economics, sociology and innovation theory, provides us with a version of such interaction leading to the development of innovation ecosystems, an embodiment (nucleus, focal point, center, nursery, core) of the new economy in different parts of the world.
